Facebook as a Social Scrapbook

In the 2016 Social Media Marketing Scrapbook, it says that Facebook is a social scrapbook. After reading this, I realized that it really is. Here are five ways that the book gives to back up their statement.

-Photos
Scrolling through your timeline, you can see everybody's photos that they post. There are a variety of photos that people post. Some are of events, such as birthdays or graduation parties. While some can even post about their daughters dance recital.

-Friends, Family, Fun
Photos are not the only way that people share things about their friends and family. You can sometimes just post a paragraph about how you feel about your family, or give your friend a shout out for having your back at all times.

-Games, Social Contests, Groups
Games on Facebook changed the game for some people. It is a great way to be able to have fun with your friends when you are bored or just trying to pass time at school or work. If that is not enough, you can also join a group that share the same interests as you. By doing this you now have a social place to talk about your passions.

-Social Causes and Endorsements
Facebook can be a great way to endorse a cause because it gives you a voice where everyone that follows you will be able to see.

-News and Commentary
Facebook has recently become a hotspot for news sharing. If you do not like watching the news, just go on Facebook. By doing this, you can scroll through what you do or do not want to listen to.

Hope this helps in making Facebook look more like a social scrapbook.

How to Follow the Best Club Tournament in Soccer, Give Them a Follow on Instagram

The UEFA (Union of European Football Association) Champions League is the best club tournament in soccer. The top clubs from the best leagues in Europe are playing to find out who is the best team in Europe. In my opinion, the best way to follow this tournament is to follow their Instagram account.  Their profile keeps you up to date with everything occurring with the tournament.  This is sometimes a challenge due to their being two games being played at once, in two different countries. When a game is going on, they will keep you up to date by posting when a goal is scored and when halftime and full time occur. When a goal is scored, UEFA will post a picture of the player who scored celebrating with the post telling you the importance of the goal. For example, when Saul Niguez scored a goal for Atletico Madrid, UEFA posted a picture of Niguez celebrating with his team, with the post saying, "That moment when Saul Niguez gave Atletico Madrid the lead". At the end of both Champions League games, UEFA will post a picture of the official final scores.
Along with up to date coverage of their games, UEFA will also post interviews done with players about the play of their teams and how they feel about their personal experiences. This gives the fans a personal look into their favorite teams as well as what it feels like to be in this grand tournament. Along with these posts, UEFA posts the key goals of the games. Some are through highlights, while others are info graphics telling you the narration of the goal. Along with these types of post, UEFA will also post some humor to their posts. A key example is when they post a picture giving people excuses on what they can tell others in order to watch the games.
If you like soccer, give please give them a follow. It truly is the best way to follow this tournament.

NBA Trade Deadline: Big Moves for the Big Easy

The NBA trade deadline has ended, and what a deadline it was. The biggest trade of the deadline came when the Sacramento Kings traded away their star center DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans. The official trade was DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Caspi to New Orleans for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, a 2017 first-round draft pick, and a 2017 second-round draft pick heading to Sacramento in return. This was a huge trade that shook up the NBA. The Pelicans now have the only two big men in the league that are averaging 20 points and 10+ rebounds per game. The last time this type of partnership occurred was the San Antonio Spurs with David Robinson and Tim Duncan, we all know how dominant they were. The Kings on the other hand loose their superstar and acquire a rookie guard who is still getting game adjusted to the style of the NBA.         In my opinion, this was a trade that makes both sides a little better, for right now. Both the Kings and the Pelicans now need some help in positions that were traded away. New Orleans now needs guards, while the Kings now need a dominant big man. Some possible moves that could happen after the season is over are listed below.

For the Kings...
Trade away some of your guards or Veteran Kosta Koufos for Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor. Okafor is a budding star, but with Joel Embiid dominating as the starting center, a change of scenery might be a good move for his career.

For the Pelicans...
You now have two of the best big men in the game. You need a shooter that will spread the floor in order for your bigs to have more room in order for their games to flourish. A good move for the Pelicans would be for them to go after Gordan Hayward, the star shooter from the Utah Jazz. He is a free agent, and this would be a great decision for him and as well as for the Pelicans.

NBA's Coverage of All-Star Weekend on Twitter

As All-Star weekend has come to an end I would like to take a look at what the NBA did in order to keep fans updated who where not able to watch the festivities. The NBA's Twitter account did an amazing job at allowing every moment to be seen by anyone. In the Celebrity All-Star game, there were constant updates and videos of some key highlights, for example, Jason Williams' elbow pass . The same thing goes for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, key highlights were tweeted as well as updates on the score. When the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge was named, The account tweeted a picture of the MVP, Jamal Murray, as well as a GIF of him lifting up the trophy.
On Saturday when the Skills Challenge, Three Point Contest, as well as the Dunk Contest were going on. The NBA tweeted out live to everyone who was up, and who was up next with short videos and or a picture of their shoes. When each contest was over the NBA tweeted out pictures as well as videos of the players who won.
On Sunday, The NBA tweeted out to everyone who was attending the game. Such as Michael B. Jordan and Jesse Williams. While the game was going on, once again key highlights were tweeted out as well as the MVP's award ceremony after the game had ended. One aspect that the NBA did to make the weekend special was every player had their own Emoji that fans could use in their tweets while tweeting about the festivities.
In my opinion the NBA did a spot on job. The emoji aspect was a game changer and allowed for fans to feel like they were apart of the experience.

All-Star Weekend: A Summary

NBA All-Star weekend ended yesterday and might I say, this might be one of the worst All-Star weekends ever. It started on Friday with the celebrity All-Star game. In all honesty, more defense was played in the celebrity game then the actual All-Star game. The East won that game by a score of 88-59. After the celebrity All-Star game, came the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. This game was very entertaining to watch. In the end the World beat the United States by a score of 150-141, led by Jamal Murray's 36 points.
On Saturday, the skills challenge was won by New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis defeating Gordon Hayward in the Championship round. Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordan won the Three-Point contest in a sudden death round against Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the anticipated Dunk Contest, not many dunks were converted. In fact two players did not even make a dunk in their three tries. This is a huge rarity in the fact that the competing players are supposed to be the best dunkers in the association.  In the end Glenn Robinson III won the contest dunking over three people in his final contest winning dunk.
Sunday was the big day the NBA All-Star game. Where the best players from both conferences play to find out who is the better of the two. Instead, we got 48 minutes of pick up basketball. Absolutely no defense was played throughout the game. There were times where only 2 players went back on defense after a turnover. No one would contest anybodies shot. In fact, if any one of the players drove to the baseline, It was a free two points because no one would be down there to defend it. However we did get to see history yesterday. All-Star MVP Anthony Davis of the host city New Orleans Pelicans dropped 52 points in the game breaking Wilt Chamberlain's previous record of 41. Along with 10 rebounds, Davis helped lead the West past the East with the final score being 192-182.

The Three Tips that Stood Out To Me the Most

After finishing Guy Kawasaki's Book, I looked back at all of the tips that he gave me. Some where common knowledge. Some made me think twice about what I post. Some I disagreed with. But I can say most of the tips where useful. In fact there are three posts that left a good impression on me.

1). Focus Your Avatar On Your Face
Although I did not agree with this at first. The idea began to grow on me and began to make more sense. I shouldn't use a logo for my personal profile. What sense would that make. I can tell you now, I am in the process of picking my new profile picture. I am doing this because it validates who you are.

2). Repost Your Friends Post
First off, you follow people because of the quality of their posts. So it would make sense to repost the best. If you do not like their posts, then you are following the wrong people.

3). Be Brief
People who are looking at your posts judge pretty quick. So capture their interests quickly so they can see the quality of your posts

Thanks for the lessons Mr. Kawasaki

Now That Football is over...

This Sunday went by incredibly slow. Sadly the reason why it was slow was because football has come to an end. There will no longer be football to watch on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Now to some of you, this is a disaster. You no longer have that routine event to look forward to every weekend and that is understandable. But just because football season is over, it does not mean that the world is coming to an end. In fact the some of the best sporting events are right around the corner.

1). UEFA Champions League Knockout Stage
Well maybe American Football has ended, but "football" is just at its peak across the pond. The European Club Championship is just about to start its knockout stage this Tuesday.  Club teams from around Europe will be competing in a 16 team tournament to find out who is the best club team in the continent. It is very exciting, and I highly recommend watching it. It might be a good change in pace that will make football season come quicker then you think.

2). March Madness
Yes, in under a month the 68 team  NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament will be underway. Selection Sunday is March 12th, with the First Four games beginning on March 14th and the Championship being April 3rd. This is the most exciting two weeks of basketball in my opinion, and nothing beats the first week. Upsets and last second shots will fill the highlight reals on ESPN. So get ready for a crazy March.

3). Opening Day to the MLB season
After the Cubs ended their 108 year curse, baseball ended with probably one of the most exciting World Series ever going seven games and extra innings in game 7. Now baseball is in the spotlight again to see if the Cubs can repeat, or if a team will start a new curse for the Cubs. The season starts April 3rd, so we will find out.

4). NBA playoffs
The curse in Cleveland ended as well. In an exciting seven game series the Cavaliers pulled off one of the greatest feats in sports history coming back from a 3-1 series deficit. Now the Cavs have a Title to defend, you can find out if they retain their Championship on April 29th.

5). FIFA Confederations Cup
The cup of champions will bring an exciting prequel to the FIFA World Cup starting the 17th of June. Russia, the hosts, play New Zealand in the opening match.

If you watch all five of these, football season will be right around the corner.

Peg and Guy's Tips to Avoid Looking Clueless

After being on social media for about six years now, I have figured out that not everything is worth posting. I realized that when I do post, sometimes I do not sound like the sharpest pencil in the box. I learned this by looking through my old posts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I wish I would have read this chapter, How to Avoid Looking Clueless, before I ever began to post on Social Media.
Here are some of the tips you should know.

1). Don't Be an Orifice
Basically, If you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all. One incidence I can remember is that I got into a heated argument on a post about a certain college basketball team in Indiana. Everyone saw it and honestly I was embarrassed. I should have just kept scrolling, now I know.

2). Don't Buy Followers
Thank God I never did this. All I know is that it just makes you look desperate. Plus they cannot interact with your content, so what is the point of having them.

3). Don't Ask People to Follow You
If you can't get followers, then that sounds like a personal problem. Instead of asking for people to follow you, why don't you try to make your posts more meaningful and begin to post posts of quality.

I hope this helps in making your profile better.

SportsCenter on Instagram

SportsCenter is in my opinion the best sports show on television. So it would make sense for me to see how they run their Instagram to see how they connect with their fans. From what I have seen, their account is generated to keep their fans updated on every major sporting event around the world. When I say every sport, I mean every sport. They have posts covering the recent Super Bowl, the past weeks games of college and NBA basketball, last weeks Australian Open, etc. These posts can either be highlights, info-graphics, and player quotes about their performance in the game or on a recent sport issue. For example, In Paul Pierce's last game playing in Boston, Pierce hit a three pointer in vintage form with time running out, giving all of the Boston fans a glimpse into the past. SportsCenter posted this clip and shared it with anyone who did not get to see this emotional last visit in a legends' career.
SportsCenter also posts info-graphics, or and image or a diagram showing a statistic. When LeBron James scored his 28,000 point, SportsCenter posted an image of James showing 28,000 points, with the caption, "LeBron James becomes the youngest player to ever reach 28,000 points." This is a great way to spread the word of a great accomplishment achieved by an athlete. The last way SportsCenter spreads news is by quoting athletes. SportsCenter will post images of the quoted athlete, along with their said Quote. An example of this is when Conor McGregor said, " I got my eyes on one thing, and that's Floyd Mayweather". These quotes are able to allow all of their followers to see the opinions of athletes about some controversial topics in sport. This quote is from McGregor giving his opinion on what he has in mind about fighting Mayweather in the boxing ring.
If you want to get all of the recent updates in the wide world of sports, please follow SportsCenter on Instagram. If you do not have Instagram, then give them a follow on any of the other platforms.

Super Bowl 51: The Falcons Time to Shine

After the AFC Championship game ended, the Super Bowl was set. The New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons will meet in Houston to find out who is truly the best team in the NFL. Both teams where impressive in their Conference Championship games, so In all honesty, I cannot tell who the favorite is. The Falcons took care of the Packers in the first half of their game, and the Patriots handled the Steelers in dominant fashion. In my opinion, this might be one of the better Super Bowls in recent years.
My pick for this years Super Bowl is... The Atlanta Falcons. Yes, I believe the Falcons will defeat the New England Patriots. This is against the obvious pick of choosing the Patriots due to this being the Patriots seventh Super Bowl, and experience is key in winning Championships. But there are teams that come around every now and then that look like it is their time to shine. I believe the Falcons are this team this year. Although this is only the second time that the Falcons have ever been in the Super Bowl, they look like a seasoned team. With the leadership of Matt Ryan, and the young tenacious Defensive Backs of Atlanta, I think they will squeak past the Patriots. This game is going to go down to the wire. I think that the Patriots will have the lead at the start of the fourth quarter. With about five minutes left in the game Matt Ryan will lead the Falcons' offense down the field for a game winning drive. Tom Brady will get the ball back with a chance to make his legacy even greater, but I think that the Atlanta Defense will hold strong and deny Brady a fifth Super Bowl ring. Falcons win 28-24.
